UB Library Collections

 eBook collection

An increasing number of eBooks are now being added to our collection. eBooks are made available in different ways depending upon a title's publisher and/or provider. There are two main ways to locate eBooks:

  • Many have individual entries in the Library catalogue. You will come across them in your normal searching, but instead of location/call number details, a hyperlink will be provided. We are working towards having all ebooks appear in the Library catalogue in this way.

  • Other eBooks can be searched as a collection via MetaLib.

We invite staff to contribute to the development of our eBook collection. Find out more at our selecting and ordering eBooks page.

Gateway to eBook resources

EBL

EBL titles appear individually in the Library catalogue, and as a collection accessible via Metalib.

From the Library catalogue, you are taken directly to the EBL page for the eBook. The eBooks can be read online via the button in the left hand navigation pane, which also allows direct links to chapters and sections of the book. Please note you will require Adobe Acrobat 6.0.2 or higher to view EBL titles.

In accordance with Australian Copyright Legislation, limited printing and copying is allowed of an EBL eBook - once those limits are reached, EBL software will prohibit further copying for that particular user.

Further information on EBL is available via the EBL homepage (native interface).

Etitle

Etitles appear individually via the Library catalogue.

A new browser window will open when you click on the link in the catalogue. Etitle was developed for use with Internet Explorer and other browsers, including Netscape and Firefox, may not work.

The format is HTML so use the Etitle Toolbar to navigate around. Print and copy availability is controlled by the publisher. If printing is permitted, there will be a Print Page icon; if copying is permitted the Ctrl-C function will be enabled.

When an Etitle is open, it cannot be used by anyone else so remember to close it when you are finished. An Etitle will close automatically after ten minutes of inactivity.

NetLibrary

NetLibrary titles appear individually via the Library catalogue, and as a collection accessible via MetaLib.

From the Library catalogue, you are taken directly to an entry for the individual title. Click on ‘View this eBook’ to browse contents or search within the fulltext of the eBook. Please note NetLibrary titles are provided as pdf files.

For further information about using NetLibrary, visit the NetLibrary help pages.
